Tam Dean Burn presents an adaptation of Stuart Campbells Leith-set novel, John McPake and the Sea Beggars.

Set just a stone’s throw away from Leith Theatre on South Fort Street, the main character, former teacher and title of the book, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, with the ensuing drama the fallout of his diagnosis (break up of marriage etc.) and eventual obsession with the 16th-century painter Pieter Bruegel.

The production is in the early stages at the moment but the thread that persists is the use of experimental audio and visual techniques to allow the audience to be immersed in what is going in John’s head – or at the very least what he thinks is going on.
