Scotland’s premier youth music orchestra are delighted to close Hidden Door with a special show marking the launch of their debut album. Featuring contributions from hundreds of young people, the record is the culmination of 7 years of pioneering projects, productions and collaborations.

Drawing on the orchestra’s work with the likes of Black Diamond Express, Dawanggang and Nigel Osborne, it combines a ferocious energy with an irreverent approach to genre and a real appetite for exploration. Transforming preconceptions of what an orchestra looks and sounds like, the record has already received support from the likes of Vic Galloway on BBC Radio Scotland. Join the movement!

For this show, the Tinderbox Orchestra are totally chuffed to present new collaborations with melodic heartbreaker extraordinaire Kathryn Joseph (winner of the SAY Award 2015) who will also perform a solo set on the night. Long regarded as one of Scotland’s finest hidden talents, Kathryn burst onto a wider stage in 2015, with the release of ‘bones you have thrown me and blood i’ve spilled’. A triumph of understated, brooding melancholy, the record is a thing of wonder, and saw Kathryn rightly championed by the likes of Lauren Laverne (BBC 6Music) and the Scottish music press.

Alongside the album launch set from the orchestra, the show will also give ticket holders a chance to explore the work of other Tinderbox projects, including Frontiers, and the digital arts collective ‘Room To Play’. Over the last seven years Tinderbox has grown from humble beginnings to become a vital, progressive presence in the Edinburgh art scene. Join us for a night of celebration, an orchestral experience like no other!
