Hidden Door is a Smörgåsbord of artistic treats. 9 days of music, theatre, cinema and art all hidden away in a huge abandoned building. It’s overwhelming, we get it…
So to help you out we’ve created some handy tips to guide you through your experience at Hidden Door 2016.
The Electric City is a sprawling site with several rooms and corridors leading from the central courtyard. Grab a programme or chat to one of our lovely volunteer stewards to make sure you’re seeing it all.
We’ve got music, visual art, theatre, cinema, spoken word, poetry, workshops, talks, walking tours and much more. Get stuck in and experience all the different art forms on offer.
You’ll probably bump into several of the artists, musicians, poets and other contributors involved with the festival. They’ll be pleased to chat to you about their work and the festival in general. They are a lovely bunch of people who have put weeks and months of their time into preparing the site and filling it with wonderment so stop and say hi!
Many of the performance spaces have limited capacity – your ticket gives you access to everything but we can’t guarantee spaces for any of the shows and there could be queues for the really popular stuff so plan ahead and get there early to avoid disappointment.
After hours of getting lost in the dizzying array of exhibitions and shows that the Electric City has to offer, you’re bound to get hungry. We’ve got you covered, though, thanks to a fine selection of the finest street food that Edinburgh has to offer.
Hidden Door is a photographer’s dream – the place will be full of visual delights and you can’t really fail to take a stunning pic, especially at night when the lights go on and the Electric City comes to life. Get snapping and share with the world on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc using #HiddenDoor. We’ll be sharing the best photos every day.
From 27 May – 4 June 2016 Hidden Door returns to the amazing disused street lighting depot behind Kings Stables Road in Edinburgh. Grab a ticket now!
