We are so proud to announce that tonight we won the regional final of the Scottish Thistle Awards – affectionately known as the “Tourism Oscars”.
Scooping the title of “Best Cultural Event or Festival” for Lothian & Borders, we were up against stiff competition in the form of the legendary Beltane Fire Society and the epic, world renowned Edinburgh International Festival. We were honoured to be in such company and absolutely amazed to come out on top.
We’d like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who made our 2017 festival happen – our generous funders and sponsors, our wonderful crowdfunders, our army of volunteers, our amazingly talented artists and contributors, and of course the awesome Leith Theatre Trust for letting us throw a huge 10-day party in their place!
The Thistle Awards are organised by VisitScotland to celebrate Scotland’s tourism industry, which employs over 200,000 Scots and generates £11bn of income per annum.
The five regional winners will now go on to the national final on Thursday 15 March 2018. We’re up against True North Music Festival in Aberdeen, Mhor Festival in Balquidder, Hebridean Celtic Festival in Stornoway and Glasgow Film Festival. We wish all our fellow finalists the best of luck!
